Yes, Big IS Beautiful

Many women have grown to believe that, in order to be beautiful you must model yourself on the stick thin models which adorn the front covers of many fashion magazines, and anybody who cannot count their ribs without sucking in their breath and can pinch maybe half an inch of flesh in some part of their body is fat and ugly. Fortunately, the real world is catching up, ‘cos in the real world girls don’t look like that (even on the mags they’ve often had their images air-brushed . . . ooooh, controversial). Plus size is natural, plus size is normal, plus size is beautiful!

Plus size fashions are catching up, because many fashion designers are realizing the potential of this enormous market (I mean enormous as in lots of people to wear their stuff, not enormous people to wear it . . . just thought I ought to clear that up) designing plus size stuff which really enhances the curves of the larger lady. It’s not just about searching your local fashion boutique to see if that little purple strapless party dress covered in sequins is available in your plus size, it’s about fashions which are designed with a plus size girl in mind . . . big is sexy when it’s done properly!

Tips for Plus Size Dressing

First of all, it’s important to embrace your size, not try to pretend that you’re 2 sizes smaller than you actually are. Plus size girls squeezed into clothes which are quite obviously far too small for them are not fooling anybody . . . not even themselves, which is why you’ll very often find that their confidence is at a very low level (an unfortunate bi-product of being plus size for some girls).

• Plus size gals need to wear plus size clothes which fit properly. Clothes which are too small will do nothing for your appearance or your confidence, but clothes which are too big won’t do anything for you either. Clothes which are too tight are very unflattering, but clothes which are too big for you will just make you look even bigger than you are, so don’t try to hide beneath an enormous dress which looks like a two man tent . . . not a good look.
• Plus size lingerie is a very good place to start. Your underwear must fit properly so that you’re comfortable, but there’s some great sexy lingerie available in plus sizes, and even if nobody is going to know that it’s there except you, it really can give your confidence a great boost. Go on, spoil yourself with some sexy lingerie, you’ll be amazed at how sexy it will instantly make you feel.

• Plus size girls with curves need to wear clothes which show off those curves, don’t go for anything shapeless – boot-cut or straight leg jeans will make your legs look longer, classic clean-cut style dresses can really work on a curvy body, if you choose something a little shorter than usual why not team it up with a nice pair of leggings.
• Plus size girls don’t need to accessorize too much, (they’ve got their own accessories) so keep things simple. Avoid frills and fuss which will only go to make you look larger, big prints are not very flattering either so keep them to a minimum.

Plus size is beautiful – plain and simple.

Like he’d stand a chance with any of those girls – they’re beautiful (and he ain’t).

Plus Size Hair

Hair is a very important part of any outfit, after all, you might splash out a few hundred bucks for a special dress for a special occasion which you’ll only wear once or twice, but your hair is with you every day. A good hair cut which complements the shape of your face can really help with your new glamorous image, it’s all about the face shape. If your hair looks good, your face looks good and your confidence will be sky high to tackle the rest of you in style.

• Round face – needs hair that heads down, not out – longer layers, waves and curls are great
• Oval-shaped face – plus size girls with an oval face are the lucky ones because just about any style will look good on them – soft curls or ponytails are nice, long hair looks good on oval shaped faces too
• Heart-shaped face – shorter styles will complement a plus size girl with a heart shaped face – chin-length styles like bobs look great
• Square faces – need soft hair, wavy layers, layered bobs, wispy bangs
• Rectangular face – try to widen the face a little with your hair style – straight back styles and bangs work well, with off-centered parts.
